Job Title: School Magazine Writer

Job Description:

You will be responsible for writing engaging and exciting articles that appeal to your peers for our new school magazine. There are a range of writing roles to apply for:

  • Year Group Project Writer - You will be informing others about your year group’s project learning from each half-term. Can you teach others about the interesting facts and knowledge you have gained? 

  • Article Writer - You will be writing about a range of exciting topics throughout the year. You will have ownership over these topics and have the opportunity to write about things that are important to you.

  • Interview writer - You will be responsible for writing interesting interview questions and interviewing different members of staff throughout the year. You will then need to write and publish the transcript of your interviews.

  • Self Help Guide - You will be writing articles for your peers to support them and give good advice on issues they may be facing. 

  • Activities Writer - You will be responsible for coming up with fun activities that your peers can do in half-terms and holidays. You will be writing clear instructions on things such as craft activities, recipes and many more.

  • Fitness Writer - You will be researching fun ways to keep fit indoors and outdoors, then writing tips, activities and guides on how to stay active during half-terms and holidays.

  • Review Writer - You will be reviewing either books or films that are aimed at children your age. You will be responsible for reading these books/watching these films, then giving your rating, review and recommendation of them.

 Time commitment: One lunchtime a week.

Person Specification:

You will be reliable and punctual. You will be imaginative and good at coming up with great ideas for your articles that are suitable for SJS children. You will be a confident writer who also has a strong knowledge of computers and picks up new technology quickly. You will be comfortable working to a deadline so that we can publish our magazine on time at the end of every half-term. You will be collaborative within the team and be resilient to feedback on your writing.

Job Title: School Magazine Quiz Writer

Job Description:

You will be responsible for creating fun and exciting quizzes, word searches and games for your peers to enjoy every half-term in our new school magazine. 

Time commitment: One lunchtime a week.

You will be reliable and punctual. You will be imaginative and good at coming up with great ideas for your quizzes and games that are suitable for SJS children. You will have a strong knowledge of computers and pick up new technology quickly. Job Title: School Magazine Artist

Applications invited from: Anyone

Job Description:

You will be responsible for designing, drawing and publishing the cover of our magazine issues as well as creating drawings that fit the theme for different articles and sections of the magazine. You will also draw exciting colouring pages for your peers to enjoy.

Time commitment: One lunchtime a week.

You will be reliable and punctual. You will be a creative and imaginative artist who is good at coming up with great ideas for your designs. You will be a strong collaborator within the team and listen to the ideas of others, as well as support and feedback from the editors. Job Title: School Magazine Editor

Applications invited from: Year 6 only

Job Description:

You will have a key role in the magazine where you will be responsible for leading and supporting your team. You will bring exciting ideas to inspire writers and provide guidance on research and writing. You will be responsible for editing articles and for publishing the magazine, ensuring it looks good and exciting for the reader. 

Time commitment: One lunchtime a week.

You will be a confident leader who has strong communication and listening skills. You will be reliable and punctual. You will be imaginative and good at coming up with great ideas to inspire and support your team. You will be organised and be able to organise others. Job Title: Social Fundraising Team member

Applications invited from: Year 6 only

Job Description:

You will be responsible for coming up with fundraising ideas to raise money for year 6’s social events across the school year, then organising and running the fundraisers, supporting the Social Team Leader.

Time commitment: As and when fundraising is required.

Employer: Mrs Davie

Person Specification:

You will be reliable and punctual. You will be great at coming up with fun ideas that are practical and possible in school. You will be good at following instructions. You will be good at organisation and can be a confident, friendly face at fundraising events.

September 2021 - We are hiring!!!

Job Title: Junior Playground Leader

Applications invited from: Anyone

Job Description:

You will be available during playtime and lunch to support and encourage children to play successfully on the playground. You will learn different games to play with children and be in charge of the equipment used on the playground. You will wear a coloured bib on the playground so that you can be easily identified.

Time commitment:

Break and lunch one day per week.

Employer: Miss Guy

Person Specification:

You will be a kind, helpful person who will support others on the playground. You will be good at organising people and helping them to play games together. You will be a responsible person who is able to look after play equipment safely.

Pay:

One To Care sticker per half-term.







Job Title: Office Assistant

Applications invited from: Year 5 and 6

Job Description:

You will be on hand to take messages and run errands for the office staff.

Time commitment:

Half an hour per week, in the afternoon.

Employer: Mrs Prince

Person Specification:

You will be a friendly, helpful person who is confident to talk to anyone. You will have excellent manners. You will be reliable and punctual. You will respect the privacy of office conversations. You will be trustworthy, and able to move around the school quickly but sensibly.

You will be making good progress in class, so that your teacher is happy for you to miss an hour of learning a week while you are doing your job.
