Vision and Values
Our School Vision
Shirley Junior School is a vibrant, welcoming place where all children belong, achieve and thrive. There is something very special about Shirley Juniors, and we are incredibly proud of our unique ethos, where pupils, staff, governors, parents and the school community work extremely hard and have high expectations of each other. Our children are at the heart of our school, and their sense of belonging, academic success and emotional and social wellbeing are at the centre of everything that we do.
At Shirley Juniors, we treat each child as an individual. We believe that in order to enable our pupils to learn effectively, they need to have their uniqueness recognised and valued, feel safe in their environment and have their voice heard. We aim to uphold the vision of 'Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day' in all that we do, ensuring that the development of the whole child is embedded and planned for throughout the curriculum that is delivered, the opportunities that are offered and community that we are part of.
- Every Child: Belonging, Nurture, Safety
- Every Chance: Opportunities, Inclusivity, Adaption
- Every Day: Understanding, Consistent, Ambitious

Our School Values
All members of our school community are encouraged to be the best version of themselves, all of the time, and this ethos is underpinned by our values: Kindness, Integrity and Respect, which encourage our community to take care of ourselves, others and the world we live in. Our core values enable our pupils to grow into responsible, independent and considerate citizens within their local community as well as the wider world.
Every individual is valued for who they are and what they contribute to the school. Values support the personal, social and spiritual development of every pupil throughout the school. We want these values to be ‘living the values’; we believe that they are values which are important within the school community and which will also be important throughout life.
- Kindness: We think about others when we act and go out of our way to help.
- Integrity: We have the courage to do the right thing even when it feels difficult
- Respect: We accept others for who they are including when they are different from us
